Unless specified otherwise, all joinery is constructed using traditional wedged and pegged tenons.

I have no 'standard' joinery. Because all items are made to order, joinery can be made to match any traditional or contemporary design and section. Almost any joinery style can be made to accommodate modern features such as double glazing, draft proofing and high security locks. I am happy to discuss and advise on appropriate sections and features.
I recommend the use of modified timber (such as (Accoya) for external work.  However, if budgets are tight, good quality softwood will last for many years if thoroughly treated. Unless specified otherwise, all joinery leaving my workshop is thoroughly treated with a good quality preservative and primed with micro-porous paint.

Traditional raised, fielded and sunk panel (left) with flush beaded reverse side (right) very typical of Victorian and Edwardian joinery either painted or in hardwood for more opulent work. For painted work, simple mouldings are better as finely detailed mouldings fill with paint and definition is lost.

Turned work was used extensively to enhance Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian architecture and interior design. Although much of this decorative work has been lost, it is relatively cheap to do and I can easily match existing features. Broken and missing stair spindles etc can be copied to match an original design rather than settling for incorrect and cheap-looking 'off the shelf' items. Having correct architectural features adds significantly to the appearance and value of properties and makes you smile.

Fitted shelves and cupboards can be made and fitted to meet any requirement. All furniture can be made in sheet materials or solid timber, finished or unfinished.
